Some criticism for the level the new boy operated at to date, but things then became clearer when it was revealed he'd been playing through the pain for Pompey. Cutting edge will yet be important this term.Photo: Jason Brown

Overall it has to go down as a disappointing start for the winger given the anticipation over his arrival. There's been mitigating factors, however, and Whyte himself would no doubt acknowledge he's not performed how he would like. That's said, his effort at Leyton Orient offered insight into what can yet be.Photo: Jason Brown

Brilliant to see the academy youngster step up to first-team level and not look out of place for a second. Huge potential.Photo: Jason Brown

Not been the best of starts for the keeper. Responded well to conceding at Forest Green and made some good stops, but looked shaky against Fulham and Peterborough - although he saved a penalty in shootout. Clearly has scope to improve.Photo: Jason Brown
