But the lateness of his switch from Oxford doesn’t mean he’s not up to speed on what business needs to be done ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.
Indeed, part of Mousinho’s interview process included a full audit on the squad he inherited from Danny Cowley, giving him a welcome heads up on what was waiting for him on his Fratton Park unveiling.
And in fairness to the new head coach, he’s already been playing his part after sanctioning the loan move for goalkeeper Matt Macey on the same day he arrived.
Now the focus is on what’s next as the clock ticks down on tonight’s all-important deadline.
Mousinho has provided a few hints on what to expect, but what’s he said exactly on the key issues heading towards the window’s closure?
Here’s a quick reminder...

![Mousinho: ‘I will have an input in every Pompey transfer, you don't have to worry about that at all. The minute that breaks down, you might as well just call it a day, we will shake hands and I’ll go. If Rich and I so wildly disagree on a player one of us desperately wants to bring him in, it probably hasn’t worked. We will definitely disagree, that’s a real positive, I want his opinion and he wants my opinion as well. If it’s a firm no from either side, that’s fine. Should I think there’s a player we should sign, that player has to be right for Pompey, not just for me. That’s great for Pompey, trust me.'](https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/webimg/b25lY21zOjU3NTAxYzNjLWNiODctNDZmZi05ZTNlLTEzMzgyYmM4YWJjNjowZmIwZDk2MC1kOTMyLTRmOWItODAwYS1kYzMxOWZhYjMzMWM=.jpg?crop=3:2&trim=&width=800)

![Mousinho: ‘It’s a family move for him. That’s fine and you have to take that into account. When you get to that stage in your career, I think there are certain things you obviously have to look at and take care off and that’s absolutely fine. We brought a centre-half into the building in Ryley Towler and we’re going to have to strengthen there again because we’re probably a bit short. But we don’t want people here who don’t want to play for the club – and not in a bad way. If you’ve got something else as a preference then we’ll try to make that happen.’](https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/webimg/b25lY21zOjUwMTNiMDRmLThjMmQtNGJiOS1hM2I5LTc4NTUxNGRmMWFjNTplNjI2ZTdjYy01ZjdlLTRjMzMtOGI3YS0yMWM5M2ExNTAzODc=.jpg?crop=3:2&trim=&width=800)
