Police hunting two men who skipped bail after male attacked during Tesco and Premier thefts in Waterlooville

Police are on the hunt for two men who skipped their bail date after a shop worker was attacked during a theft.

The individuals, aged 42 and 48, were detained in March on suspicion of committing numerous offences. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary previously said several incidents took place at Tesco Express in Lovedean Lane, Lovedean, Waterlooville, on March 17.

Two men entered the store at 9.10am on March 17 - proceeding to take a number of items without paying. "It has also been reported they were aggressive towards staff," a police spokeswoman previously said.

Two people entered the Premier Store in Milton Road a short while later, stealing numerous items from the shop. The men were arrested on suspicion of common assault, theft from a shop and using threatening, abusive or insulting words / behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence.

They were placed on bail until June 17, but failed to turn themselves over to the police. A police spokesman said food items were swiped from the shelves of both locations, with one staff member being targeted.

He added: “Enquiries are ongoing to locate the two men after they failed to return on the scheduled bail date. A man was pushed and verbally abused during the incident but no injuries were sustained.”
