Personnel from Absolute Enforcement attended Elkin and Bell Funerals in Gosport in December 2023 due to the unsettled debt and subsequently found two decaying bodies, according to the company’s website.

As previously reported, the funeral parlour, in Nobes Avenue in the Bridgemary area, closed its doors on Sunday, December 10. A man and a woman – both in their 40s – were arrested on suspicion of fraud and preventing lawful burial of a dead body following a report to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary at 10.45am on Sunday, December 10. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary continues to investigate the disturbing allegations and the two people arrested remain on bail while enquiries continue.

Hide AdA force spokesperson said: “We want to reassure the community that these allegations are being thoroughly investigated, and all families who are connected to this investigation have been spoken to and are being supported by police.”
Following the closure of the premises, the owners of Elkin and Bell released a statement on social media stating that “circumstances beyond our control with our landlord” left them with no choice but to shut up shop, adding that they were “actively exploring” options to continue the business.
