Enjoy an amazing family day out in Hampshire this July – early-bird ticket offers available, and once the admission is paid every activity is free!

Looking for an action-packed day out for all the family, jammed full of free fun activities, STEM opportunities, fitness challenges and military majesty? Add the HMS Collingwood Open Day to your calendar to kick start summer in style.

Being held in Fareham on July 6, it’s a full day of activities to entertain fractious teens, tireless toddlers and mums and dads looking for an affordable day of fun.

What to expect

Whether you are a family looking for entertainment by the bucket-load or a military enthusiast keen to admire the might and skill of the Royal Navy, the open day has it all.

Once the entry ticket has been purchased (and book now for early bird offers) every activity is free. That includes dodgems, Miami Flyers, children’s tea cups, the children’s carousel and the chairoplane. Ready for more? What about the inflatable helter skelter, steam truck rides, laser quest, axe-throwing, and brand new for 2024, the zip line.

There’s a petting farm, complete with soft play for toddlers, a Punch and Judy show, circus workshop, inflatable pirate ship and free face painting.

Your entry ticket includes a number of free gigs in the live music arena, including local bands and veteran’s favourites like Annie Riley and Lloyd Ellery.

Military Exhibits

The Royal Navy and the Army will have interactive climbing walls, a dive tank display and hi-tech equipment displays. You can try to land an F35 on a carrier or even navigate a warship into Portsmouth Harbour, thanks to VR experience zones. Border Force will be showing what they do to protect the country.

The ever popular RNRMC Field Gun Competition has drawn a record number of entrants – 21 teams are battling for glory this summer.

STEM fun

Thanks to Army and RN STEM teams you can try hands on engineering practice, VR, Qinetiq STEM activities and exhibitions including the Winchester Science Museum and the Fareham College tech truck.

Emergency services

Colleagues from Police, Fire, Ambulance, RNLI and GAFIRS (Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service) will be putting on interactive displays.

For high adrenalin fun look skyward for the Raiders RN Parachute Display Team, and back down on earth the Solent Starts Motorcycle Display Team.

Supporting local traders

A number of speciality food and drink vendors from around the area will be there, along with craft sellers, part of HMS Collingwood’s commitment to #support local

There’s limited offsite free parking, or, you can jump on a free bus running to and from Fareham and Gosport.

Where to book tickets

You can make great savings on early bird tickets from now till June 16. Adults cost £12, children aged 3-15 just £5 and a family ticket (two adults and up to three children) for £30.

From June 16 to July 5, tickets increase to £14 for adults, £7 for kids and £35 for a family ticket.
