A POPULAR rum festival has been postponed just days before it was due to take place after objections from residents.

The Rum & Reggae Festival was set to take place this Saturday in Priory Park offering punters the chance to sample a variety of rums, eat traditional Jamaican food and enjoy live reggae music.

Yesterday the firm announced the festival would be postponed until the new year.

A post on the Facebook page read: '˜Due to a licensing objection from nearby park residents we have been forced to postpone the Rum & Reggae Festival in Priory Park, Chichester this Saturday November 3.

'˜We were informed of the objection on our license late last week and have spent the last four days contacting alternative venues (Goodwood / UCSU) to host this Saturday, these venues have been very helpful but unfortunately were not available at this late notice.

'˜We will confirm a new date shortly for early next year.'

The company confirmed tickets for the festival will remain valid for the new date.
