POLICE have charged a man with a string of shoplifting offences after working with businesses to catch thieves.

Officers investigating thefts from shops in Portsmouth have charged a man with 13 offences.

Lyley Daniells, 33, of no fixed abode, has been remanded in custody after being charged for each of the 13 thefts.

The charges come following incidents between June 26 and August 29.

He was remanded to appear before Portsmouth Magistrates' Court today.

The investigation was part of Operation Monster, which sees officers in Portsmouth working with businesses to tackle shoplifting and other offences against them.
