Gosport thief who '˜couldn't care less' about stealing handbag is jailedÂ

A CALLOUS thief who '˜couldn't care less' about stealing a woman's handbag '“ which had jewellery and sentimental items in it '“ was thrown back behind bars for his latest crimes.

Prolific thief Eamon Reade, 35, of no fixed address, was back in familiar territory at Portsmouth Crown Court after admitting sneaking through a back door at the McColl's store in Forton Road, Gosport, before stealing a worker's bag.

The bag had a number of items inside it including two' high value rings', a purse and sentimental items.

Reade, who has 43 previous convictions for theft and burglary, admitted burglary and theft for another offence where he stole a case of 24 Stella Artois beers from The Welcome Store in Gosport with a value of £27.

Judge Robert Hill sent Reade back to prison for eight months. He said:  '˜You couldn't have cared less about taking the bag . You had only been out of prison for a short time when you committed these offences.'
