Hampshire police dish out over 250 fixed penalty notices for coronavirus breaches

North Yorkshire officers dished out the most fines in the UK after slapping out 1,151.
The Metropolitan Police handed out 1,131 notices while Devon and Cornwall issued 1,009.

Hide AdRecently, police have started handing out fines for those breaching the Rule of Six – with a homeowner in Gosport Road, Fareham, given a £200 fine after nine people were found at the address.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old University of Portsmouth student has been issued with a court summons and warned he will face a fine after organising a street party outside a halls of residence in the city centre.
Chief Inspector Rob Mitchell said: ‘We would like to remind people that officers have the power to issue £10,000 fines to the organisers of large gatherings, and people attending can be fined £200 for a first offence.’
The Rule of Six applies to gatherings of more than six people from more than one household.

Hide AdPolice have the powers to disperse any such gatherings and fine individuals involved £100, doubling up to a maximum of £3,200.
